14 Lessons We Can All Learn From “The Wolf of Wall Street”.

Act as if! Act as if you’re a wealthy man, rich already, and then you’ll surely become rich. Act as if you have unmatched confidence and then people will surely have confidence in you. Act as if you have unmatched experience and then people will follow your advice. And act as if you are already a tremendous success, and as sure as I stand here today – you will become successful.”  – Jordan Belfort

Both the book and the movie “The Wolf of Wall Street” contain many crazy, entertaining, and decadent stories. But beneath all the debauchery there are a number of key lessons that we can learn from the success of Jordan Belfort and Stratton Oakmont.

All good things must come to an end. What goes up must come down.

But, how did he really build it? Let’s look and ponder on some great insight into this motivated business man that will show you how Jordan Belfort was able to build a super pumped organization before it all came tumbling down.

12 Movies to look forward for in 2010..

As we roll into the last quarter of 2010 (wow, how time flies, huh? missed me?), there’re still a number of films worth waiting for. Well, in my little black book at least. Here, they are, in the order of their release dates in Singapore:

10 Sept: Resident Evil: Afterlife

Many. Milla. Jovovichs. Nearly. Naked. Killing. Zombies. In 3D. (sure got many cleavage one!)

Anyone, someone, give me one good reason why this film should be skipped!

No? I thought so.

16 Sept: Devil

Ok, I know this stinks of Shyamalan, but I believe his involvement in this is more financial than anything else. He may have thought of the idea, but the script and directing duties were passed on to another team. So I think this movie has a chance.

The movie is about a group of people trapped in a lift. And one of them is not who they say they are.

(hint: oh come on! you’re smarter than that!)

7 Oct: Buried

Essentially a one-man show, Ryan Reynolds (woots!), a truck driver, awakens to find himself buried six feet underground with nothing but a lighter and a phone. And he needs to get out. Pronto. A very simple premise under a very intense situation. Reminds me of Phonebooth. Or the crazy magician, Chris Angel.

7 Oct: The Last Exorcism

The mockumentary/found footage genre has come back strongly the past couple of years, bolstered by sterling efforts such as Cloverfield, District 9 and REC. This should prove an interesting addition to the family. Especially seeing as to how they took to the legendary chatroulette in promoting the film.

7 Oct: Dinner for Schmucks

There’s Paul Rudd, and there’s Steve Carell. It will be stupid. AND funny.and brainless.

Good to watch on a weekday. less brainjuice used!

22 Oct: Paranormal Activity 2

I wasn’t actually a big fan of  Paranormal Activity. But some films, you just need to know what happens next. and we all are suckers for such continuation!

28 Oct: The Social Network

AKA the facebook movie. Ahhhhhh. For SM people like me!

28 Oct: Let Me In

The hollywood adaptation of Swedish vampire/coming of age flick Let the Right One In. I’m usually not fond of remakes with the hollywood treatment, but its helmed by Cloverfield director Matt Reeves, and judging from clips and interviews from Comic Con, it seems like Matt has stayed very true to the source material (John Ajvide Lindqvist‘s novel). Besides, Chloë Moretz (HitGirl from Kick-Ass) stars!

I just hoped that the movie wont be as shaky as Cloverfield. (who left me puking so hard in the toilet after 45 mins into the movie)

28 Oct: Scott Pilgrim vs The World

I’ve never read the comics, but if Kevin Smith, Quentin Tarantino and Jason Reitman dig it, that’s enough for me.

11 Nov: RED

About a bunch of retired CIA agents forced out of their hiding and surviving against a high-tech assassins. Sounds like a fun movie to me. Especially when Bruce Willis is in it. Adrenaline and testosterone charged, confirmed!

18 Nov: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part1

Teen love. Wizards. Emma Watson. And those lovely English accents. Oh, and of course the whole good vs evil thing.

16 Dec: Tron Legacy

Just look at the poster! sweeeeeeeeeeee!

So, what do you think? How many of these films will you be watching?
